Hiking – Pashtrik Mountain Summit
Description
Discover the Splendor of Pashtrik Mountain: An Epic Climb
Pashtrik Mountain, towering at 1988m (7,851 ft) above sea level, dominates the northeastern region of Albania within the Has Mountains. Spanning from the White Drin Valley, which separates it from Koritnik Mountain in Kosovo, Pashtrik offers sweeping vistas of northeastern Albania and beyond.
The adventure kicks off in the charming villages of Kishaj and Cabani, nestled in the Gjinal Commune of the Has District, at 1070m above sea level. The 4 km trail initially winds through rugged and barren landscapes, gradually ascending to reveal lush meadows and pastures at an altitude of 1750m. These picturesque pastures, dotted with stalls, serve as seasonal grazing grounds for local livestock.
Continuing the climb towards the summit, the trail briefly crosses into Kosovo, guiding you to the pinnacle at 1988m. Here, you'll encounter the symbolic border between Kosovo and Albania.
Accessing the trailhead in Kishaj and Cabani villages entails a 12 km journey from Has city center, traversing an unpaved road best suited for off-road vehicles or local vans.
This demanding trek entails a 900m ascent and descent across a total distance of 10 km, typically requiring 7-8 hours to complete. While the path is generally well-kept, caution is advised, especially during winter when icy conditions may pose challenges during the climb and descent.
This guide is tailored for individuals in good physical condition or those with a penchant for outdoor activities.
